Calling Houston’s Youth Poets: Space City Slam!

witsslamback8.5x5.5finalwitsslam8.5x5.5final.inddCalling all teen poets and writers! Share your words through the Writers in the Schools (WITS) Meta-Four Houston performance poetry program:

• All youth ages 13-19 are invited to compete in the Space City Slam.
• The winners from the first four slams will compete in the Grand Slam for the chance to represent Houston in the 
Brave New Voices International Festival in Chicago (August 2013).

Space City Slam Series

March 22 (Fri) – Mercury Slam ) @ Hope Stone 7-9pm

April 6 (Sat) – Mars Slam @ HPL Central Library 10-12pm

April 26 (Fri) – Saturn Slam  @ Hope Stone 7-9pm

May 4 (Sat) – Pluto Wild-card Slam @ HPL Heights Neigborhood Library 10am-12ppm

May 11 (Sat) – Space City Grand Slam* @ HPL Central Library 10am-12pm

*Part of Houston’s Art Car Parade

Writers in the Schools also offers free after school writing workshops for youth ages 13-19:
• Mondays @McGovern-Stella Link and Heights Neighborhood Libraries
• Wednesdays @Smith Neighborhood Library
• Thursdays @Carnegie Neighborhood Library
• No registration is required, and walk-ins are welcome.
